Term 3 - More information...


MORE INFORMATION ON THINGS HAPPENING IN TERM 3...


SWIMMING, GYMNASTICS AND TRAMPOLINE: Every Monday afternoon the senior school will be heading off to Dudley Aquatic Centre and McAlpines Mitre 10 Mega Sports Centre, Edward Street, Rangiora.


NCSRT (North Canterbury Sport Recreation Trust) will be with us a usual every other Thursday and their focus will be on athletics.


SPEECH COMPETITION: All Year 4 - 8 children will participate in the in class competition, the three winners from each year group then go into the School Speech Competition, which them goes into the Quad School Speech Competition  (Sefton, North Loburn, Loburn and Ashley schools).  We will be getting stuck in to speech writing a soon as we get back to school.

TOP TEAM is a series of team-based activities that promote initiative, problem-solving and communication skills and is run by Sport Canterbury.  This will involve Year 4 - Year 8 children.  We will be looking for parent help on the day and will send more information out in due course.


MATHS OPEN EVENING: This will be held at school and is an opportunity for you to come and hear about our mathematics programme.


TOD (Teacher Only Day);  As staff we will all be re doing our First Aid Certificates on this day.

KIDS CAN COOK: This is a purpose built Mobile Learning Kitchen  used at schools, Community Gardens and Farmers' Markets around the South Island catering to Primary, Intermediate and Secondary Schools. The programme is set up to suit all age groups with younger classes focusing on fun and getting involved and older children on what is in our food, McDonald's, energy drinks and healthy food options.  


LIFE EDUCATION: We will be looking at addiction and the mental, emotional, social and physical implications Discussing puberty and the development of the brain in this time and looking at the need to practice kindness with others as we develop.  This will fit in nicely with the Puberty Unit I will be teaching, there will be more about this in about week 3, letters will be coming home about the Puberty Unit with an option for your child not to participate.


GIRLS SELF DEFENSE /BOYS TIME: The Year 7/8 girls will be having a course of self defense classes later in the term and we will be running a 'Boys Time' along with this programme.

LOUD SHIRT MUFTI DAY:  This year the School Council will be getting behind the The Hearing House and the Southern Cochlear Implant Paediatric Programme – two organizations that offer therapy to enable deaf children with a cochlear implant or hearing aids to speak clearly and naturally like their hearing peers.
